A Vocalist extraordinaire!
This young man is more than a triple threat. He surpasses most artists today because of his ability to captivate his audience in his song. Shyrone cannot be compared to anyone, partially because those that he has been inspired by range from Daryl Coley, Lashun Pace ,Patti Labelle, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, to Richard Smallwood. People such as the Late James Moore to Aretha Franklin, Television legend Oprah Winfrey & Tyler Perry have been an inspiration of hope to him, but Shyrone style is his very own. He simply loves the art of singing & ministering!
Shyrone grew up in a small town of Florida (Fort Myers) this is where his musical talents were groomed and nurtured for success, as he comes from a family of great Musicians and Singers, Pastors and Evangelists consisting of his parents, Vera Lee Peterson and Curtis Eugene Brooks and siblings, Jessie Peterson Jr.,
Javon Peterson, Tyrail Brooks, Karinda (Briel) Brooks, Curtisha Brooks, and Jontisha Brooks. At an early age everyone always new that he would be a singer because when other members would sing to him as a baby, he would hold his mouth trying to sing with them.
Starting in elementary school, his talent was discovered by his 3rd grade teacher, Ms .Yvonne Plummer. She over heard this voice coming from one of hear students in her classroom she would never told this child to stop, she just wanted to keep listening. When she realized it Shyrone she would have him sing every day to her. When the school Christmas play came she nominated for Shyrone do a solo “O holy Night, she invited him to her church to sing” He immediately knew that was his calling, every opportunity that he had to sing he did. At the age of 8, Shyrone family joined a church where they didn’t have a children choir; Shyrone joined the adult choir to sing his heart out for the Lord. Wherever he went someone would always request to let Shy sing, suddenly at the age of 9 rehearsing for yearly musical concert. He was kick out of the choir, but it was adults not kids. “Does this sound familiar? Tina Turner”
You know this has to be hard for a 9 year old child to understand, but God was preparing him for the future and the world. He continued to keep on singing, all the way thru middle-school and in this 8th grade, He was scouted to attended Cypress Lake Center of the performing arts “ Musical Voice program” where he was taught the fundamentals of music theory, sighting singing, classical, jazz, Negro spiritual, different song in other languages. Thru this program he has had gain a vast level of skills & knowledge. For 4 years straight he has received Gold medals from the Florida Vocal Association. Shyrone has performed at inauguration for Mayors, Yearly NAACP National fort Myers banquet, Quality of life yearly banquet, After receiving great recognition in his home town , he is always new there was something bigger and greater.
On July 23, 1999, his 19th birthday, his grandma Ella Mae James gave a portion of her social security check to buy his ticket to New York to follow his dreams, with no family and with a $ 250 cash and $500.00 credit card; which the Credit card took. $50.00 dollars activate the credit card. After the years of great disappointment, triumphant and tribulations, people told he will never makes it; He was used and abused, these are some stumbling blocks, but somehow, someway he kept pressing on.
Shyrone looked at his experiences in life as way that God was modeling him and shaping him for the Master plan.
The Minister of Soul has appeared with the Incomparable Dr. Bobby Jones, Rev. Timothy Wright, Vickie Winans, Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams.
Shyrone says,
